Accounting & Office Clerk
The Peace Country Beef & Forage Association (PCBFA) is a non-profit producer group that strives to provide leading edge, credible, and locally viable information to Peace Country producers, through our applied research and extension programs. We inspire and empower innovation in agriculture, and move forward the agriculture industry in the Peace, by enhancing its environmental, social, and economic sustainability.
We are looking for a meticulous and resourceful Accounting & Office Clerk to keep our financial records up to date, accurate, and organized, and support our Executive Director in updating and maintaining budgets and financial reports.
Duties of the Accounting & Office Clerk Include:
1. Complete all daily bookkeeping procedures (using QuickBooks), including:

Posting invoices
-
Issuing cheques
-
Entering credit card transactions
-
Invoicing clients
2. Complete monthly accounting cycle, including:
-
Posting journal entries
-
Reconciling bank and Mastercard
-
Reconciling payroll accounts
3. Provide reporting and compliance support by:
-
Completing financial reports for grant funders
-
Updating budget to actual revenue and expense sheets
-
Preparing for and supporting our year-end audit process
4. Provide other administrative support, such as:
-
Managing utility accounts
-
Completing WCB returns
-
Completing annual Societies Returns
5. Provide other general administrative support as needed
Areas of Competence:
1. Planning and organizational skills are essential for this position.
2. Strong communication skills: verbal and written communication skills are essential, as are good listening skills.
3. Exceptional attention to detail is required.
4. Experience with QuickBooks would be a significant asset.
5. Experience with non-profit accounting would be a significant asset.
6. Experience with, knowledge of, or interest in agriculture would be an asset.
Starting pay range is $25-30 per hour.
Total hours per week and schedule are flexible and can be customized to the ideal candidate.

Summer Agriculture Research Technician
The Peace Country Beef & Forage Association (PCBFA) is a non-profit, producer-run organization that strives to provide leading edge, credible, and locally viable information to Peace Country producers, through our applied research and extension programs. Our vision is to create agricultural systems that are profitable, regenerative, self-sustaining, and self-maintaining. We bring together a network of innovative producers to discuss ideas and develop profitable and sustainable ways to produce forages and livestock.
We are looking for 5 ambitious and hard-working Summer Agriculture Research Technicians to be part of our PCBFA team. Someone who has a genuine interest in the agriculture industry, and even better – ag research! As a Summer Agriculture Research Technician, you will work closely with our Lead Research Technician. You will gain hands-on experience in all aspects of the applied research process – from field design and planning, to set up and implementation of research projects, and collecting, compiling and analyzing data.
If you enjoy time outdoors, a fast-paced work environment, and doing something different every day, then this is the job for you! You will assist with sorting and weighing seed and samples, plot layout, seeding, mowing, spraying, harvesting, plot maintenance, soil sampling, data collection, and taking field notes and observations. You may also provide support in the planning, coordination, and implementation of tours, workshops, and field days put on by PCBFA for local farmers and agronomists, and get to listen to some great speakers! A smaller portion of your time may be spent in the office helping with the writing, preparation, and mailing of extension
articles and publications, as well as the compiling, analyzing, and reporting of project data generated from research projects.

Ability to work flexible and extended hours as required.

Any experience related to farming operations is an asset.
Wage is negotiable depending on experience (range of $19-25).
Start and end dates are flexible - ideal start date would be April or May, and ideal end date would be August or later (possibility to stay on for Fall).

Salary: $55,000 - $70,000 dependent upon experience

Position Overview: The Extension Coordinator plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between agricultural research and its practical application by facilitating the transfer and adoption of research-based knowledge to farmers and various stakeholders. This position requires excellent communication skills to effectively disseminate research findings and support stakeholders in improving agricultural practices. The successful candidate should be comfortable with public speaking, and enjoy a face-paced, diverse environment. Candidates with experience in marketing, podcasting, social media and hosting events are a great asset, but not required.
Key Responsibilities:

Knowledge Translation & Transfer (KTT)

Translate research-based information into engaging, easily comprehended formats for local producers.

Continuously assess and prioritize the needs, demands and opportunities for growth among local producers and stakeholders and work alongside colleagues to ensure our research projects and extension activities remain relevant.

Organize, facilitate and host a wide range of KTT and Extension activities including workshops, field tours, webinars, seminars, and presentations.

Collaboration & Outreach:

Collaborate with researchers, extension groups, producers, industry partners, government agencies and other relevant stakeholders to disseminate, demonstrate and promote research-based agricultural information and practices.

Foster partnerships and networks to enhance the impact of agricultural research.

Content Creation:

Develop and maintain engaging, informative content for various online platforms including Social Media, E-Mails and our Website.

Write, contribute to, and produce informative articles, interviews and social media posts for newsletters, podcasts, websites and other publications as needed.

Ensure content is accurate, engaging, and aligns with the organization's messaging and goals.

Monitoring & Evaluation:

Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of our extension activities utilizing feedback mechanisms and data analysis, and track accordingly.

Provide recommendations and insights for continuous improvement of extension initiatives.

Stakeholder Support:

Provide day-to-day support to members and producers via telephone, email and in-person interactions.

Address inquiries, provide guidance and offer research-based solutions to agricultural challenges.

Proposal, Documentation and Growth:

Contribute to the development of proposals, grant applications, reports, publications and other documentation related to extension efforts.
